As part of my self-improvement journey, I decided to try to take up watercolor painting.
My present artistic ability is measured in shaky stick figures, so I was that by going from nothing to something in one thing would make it easier to believe I could improve in another.
To find a starting point I googled “watercolor painting for beginners” and several other variations on those terms. All I found were images like this one that you could have passed off as for sale in a gallery without me being any the wiser.
If this is where beginners are meant to be, where does someone like me start?
More importantly, how does someone like me keep hope that I could ever call myself good if “beginner” is that far above my head?
